Jurassic Coast

A World Heritage Site

Welcome to a world of unspoilt charm and outstanding natural beauty. To a countryside of sweeping coastlines and gentle chalk downlands, sleepy villages and bustling market towns, hidden treasures and literary inspiration - a countryside of wooded hills, river valleys and beaches that seem to stretch for miles.

Welcome to West Dorset

In this unique part of the country there really is something for everyone, all year round. Whether you want an action - filled fortnights family holiday by the sea, a weekend of walking, cycling or golf, an ideal romantic getaway or simply the opportunity to explore some of Britains best countryside, then look no further.

The Jurassic Coast is the place to be.........

Welcome to the Jurassic Coast - Englands first natural World Heritage Site.  This unique stretch of coastline has joined the ranks of the Great Barrier Reef and the Grand Canyon as one of the wonders of the natural world.  The Dorset and Devon Coast has become a World Heritage Site due to its outstanding geology, which represents 185 million years of earth history in just 95 miles. It displays not just superb Jurassic, but older Triassic and younger Cretaceous rocks too.

Take a "walk through time" along the coast and see the geological story for yourself.
